The Star Wars Legion is the latest and greatest new dog of war simulation and strategy game on the market. War is all about numbers, strategy and the element of surprise. Warfare is an anachronistic part of the Star Wars galaxy - from the Rebel Alliance's crushing victory at the Battle of Hoth to the elite Rebel strike force taking down a legion oftrooper commandos on the forest moon of Endor. All war games are about numbers, positioning and the element of surprise - and the Star Wars Legions takes that one step further by delivering more action and more thrills than ever before. In Star Wars Legion everything changes. The original trilogy films are all but ancient history nowadays, and so the original battlefronts have been completely redone. There's no longer Hoth.

There's no battle at the Death Star. Darth Vader isn't there, either, so these iconic battles now feel like they should.Instead, there's a new front - the imperial forces, led by Vader himself, have invaded the planet of Alderaan. The rebellion musters up to fight the Empire, but Luke, who is now a general in the New Republic's military, must lead his ragtag army in battle against the cold warriors. Much of this is action-packed dog fighting, with both sides employing new army building strategies, new weapons, and (occasionally) new tactics. It's also enough to remind anyone of the old arcade games of Space Invaders and Pac Man where you must blast your way to victory by making the right attacks at the right time. This time around, your goal is to make your troops hit the most enemy ships (with the deflectors helping a lot, of course). In fact, winning takes a little bit of strategy, especially if you play with the help of an at-rt unit, such as the PTZ multiplayer browser game. You can assign one of your units to take on each objective one at a time, and the game speeds up as your army grows. Combined with some of the clever challenges that are added throughout the various missions, including the sabotage mission which allows you to sabotage your opponents so that they never know you're coming!

The star wars legion game provides plenty of options for the multiplayer player who doesn't want to engage in mass-scale battles on a massive scale. With a couple of these games (the star wars legion PTZ and the speeder bikes unit expansion) you can get a taste of what the single-player game mode is like. There are several challenges built into the single player campaign, including building up your star wars empire, defending it from an onslaught of attack boats, and even taking command of a space ship (that can dock in hyperspace, giving you access to new areas to explore). Additionally, if you play using the at-rt unit, you get to command a huge fleet oftrooper units that can do considerable damage to enemy star ships. However, the star wars legion challenge runs the full spectrum of the challenges in SWTOR. Whether you're looking for a taste of single-player or multi-player action in this all new single-shooter by Bioware, it's worth taking a look. It looks stunning, and the single player game is challenging and fun.
